Bhavishya-which is an India-based NGO that is dedicated to promoting Indian Handicrafts and supporting women-based projects in India, and Indian Ladies’ Club, Frankfurt- an association consisting of Indian diaspora women. Together we are celebrating International Women’s Day on 10th March in Nordwestzentrum, Frankfurt. We are expecting an audience of 500 people, both Indian and German. Collective action and shared ownership for achieving gender parity is what makes International Women’s Day successful. Gloria Steinem, world-renowned feminist, journalist and activist once said “The story of women’s struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organisation but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights” Global activism for progress is now ignited more than ever after successfully celebrating and dedicating March 8 every year to the power of women. For International Women’s Day 2018, together let’s all “PressforProgress”, which is also the motto for International Women’s Day 2018 all over the world.
Our event is a half day event, with workshops on traditional Indian arts and crafts, thought-provoking presentations and talks, and a variety of cultural programmes depicting the urban and rural women in India, various initiatives of the Indian government like “Beti padhao, beti bachao” and other women based issues.
